Mavic Pro - Boulder Beach & Lake Panorama National GC in September

Equipment Used: DJI Mavic Pro, Apple iPad, Lightroom & Photoshop CC

Back in September with a few golfers still golfing, I closed up the pro shop and went out with the Mavic Pro to capture the sunset while the following morning, arrived early to get the sunrise.

I controlled the drone while seating in a golf cart with the iPad and DJI’s Go4 app and varied the height of the drone. At the max, I was at 319 ft taking this series of images. To get the panoramic images, I rotated the drone to take images at different angles. With the wide dynamic range of the images, I also had the drone in AEB to take three different exposed images.

Once the files were in Lightroom, I set the preset to either golf course1 or autumn color boost hdr to begin editing them. To fine tune the image, I used graduated or radial filters to decrease or increase the exposure in certain regions.   The panoramic images involved merging from 3 to 6 images into one using the panoramic feature in LR. Panoramic images were than straightened and cropped in LR as well.

Using Photoshop, I used the healing and clone brush tools to get rid of unwanted objects like cart signs and bunker rakes.  Since the majority of the adjustments were made in LR, I didn’t use Photoshop very much to edit these images.

Half way through October I’m currently waiting for the trees to turn into bright colors so I can fly the skies again with the Mavic Pro over the golf course and Lake Panorama.
